Please help me in welcoming Ms. Kaitlin Melsenti to the Ripp 5 family. I have previously worked with Ms. Melsenti in various capacities at Springdale School, so rest assured she will be a very positive and energetic addition to our classroom.
She will begin on Monday, January 12th. Initially, her primary responsibilities will be observing and shadowing me. As the 90 days progress she will be working with small groups and individual students to augment achievement, as well as teaching explicit lessons under my guidance. She will have full control over the classroom for the last two weeks of her experience. I will be providing more details as this process progresses. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions.
Dear Mr. Sapia’s 5th Grade Students and Parents,
My name is Kaitlin Melsenti, and I will be joining your wonderful classroom beginning on January 12th, 2015 as a Student Teacher. I recently finished my course work for my Master’s Degree in Elementary Education (K-6) at the University of Bridgeport, and prior to that I received my undergraduate degree from UCONN. In my final step to obtain my degree, I must complete 90 days of classroom fieldwork. Mr. Sapia has graciously agreed to mentor me, and I am extremely grateful for this opportunity. I am very excited to meet you all!
I knew I wanted to become an educator from an early age. It’s been a passion of mine to motivate, collaborate, and learn with others to make material easier to understand, as well as to discover and explore the unknown. I don’t believe in the traditional sense of a classroom, where the teacher knows all and the students are there to regurgitate information. A classroom is an environment that fosters learning and interests in every individual, and by doing so we learn from one another. Mr. Sapia is skilled in nurturing student interest and motivation, so I am lucky to have such a wonderful mentor! I am enthusiastic to see what each and every one of you has to offer, and I’m confident we will make a great team.
